Love is my religion

Today is the first day of Lent. (Stay with me, this is not 100% about religion and won’t be preachy.) Typically during Lent, Catholics (and some Protestants) give up something or challenge themselves to do something testing for 40 days and 40 nights, starting today and ending on Easter Sunday. Sitting at Mass this morning I was racking my brain, thinking of what I was going to do. At that point I only had an hour to decide. And then it came to me.
My challenge this year is to do yoga every day for 40 days. Sounds crazy, I know. But what you may not know is that there is more to yoga than just asana (yoga poses). There are eight components (formally known as limbs) to yoga. You can read more about them here.
To prove that I’m actually doing this, I’ll be posting a picture every day on my Instagram account, @curvyyogadsm with the hashtag #40daysofyoga. Feel free to join me by hashtagging your own pictures.
Stay tuned over these 40 days to hear more about my experenices with the Eight Limbs of Yoga and how I connect my yoga practice with Catholicism.
